About Rachael Aldridge

Having trained at Swansea Glass Department in the early 1990s I now run a small independent stained glass studio in rural Northamptonshire. Using traditional techniques I design, make and restore leaded lights and stained glass, both ecclesiastical and domestic. New commissions always welcome. Restoration- leadlight and Fanlight

Door panels are always amongst the first to suffer damage from wear and tear.
Often it is a case of replacing broken glass and re-leading the panel.
The original door panel was broken completely so a new one was made to match the existing panels above it.
Later the clients requested a new fanlight panel to match the ones below.

New Commissions- Northants Scene

This window was commissioned to reflect the countryside surrounding the owners house in North Northants.
Nearly 3m in length it sits atop a stairwell that looks out onto a nearby house.
The scene depicts hedgerow plants, a hare, a red kite silhouette and the outline of Oundle church.

Marion Morgan Memorial Window, All Saints, Wellingborough 2012

This window was donated by John Morgan in memory of his wife Marion.
John wanted a suitably modern window to reflect Marion’s lively personality and character.

This window was used to add obscurity to an area that overlooked a neighbours garden.
Based on Van Gogh’s Iris paintings it uses just coloured glass and lead across the 4 panels

Restoration- domestic

Front door panel, Northants.

The panel was removed, taken apart and any broken pieces were matched and replaced.
The whole panel was then re-leaded, re-cemented cleaned and then re-fitted

Window Restoration- All Hallows, Wellingborough, Northants

The restored window.
Damaged by vandalism the restoration involved matching and painting new glass to intermingle with the original pieces.
The panel was then re leaded and re installed.
