Heart Hanging with Weave & Glass

This was the first wall hanging I did using the idea for weave. The design was a doodle that I’d done for a valentine card design. I made it bigger and used a template.

This was fired twice, bisque first, then the different glazes and the glass were added before the second firing.

The cut out hearts have weave on the back so that they can be seen when looking at the cut out hearts.

As this was my first piece, I was really pleased with the overall look, it came out really well and has Meade me want to try it more and with new shapes and ideas.

Rainbow & Sunshine Lamp

This lamp came about purely by accident, a student wanted to make a pumpkin using a balloon, this was just a practice piece to show how it could be done.

I wasn’t sure what design I was going to do and with the current circumstances in the world, rainbows are a sign of hope for many……sunshine or the sun has a general happy feel to it and I have a great love for botany so the flowers just went hand in hand.

This was fired once as I have been experimenting with this technique. It came out ok but there is always room for improvement.

Floral Clay Heart with Weave

Green floral heart made from stoneware clay…..the design has flowers cut out and then placed on the face of the heart…….the cut out flowers are backed with hand woven fabric of many colours to compliment the flowers on the design…(handwoven by myself and from my stash of woven fabrics ).

This is something I have been trying over the past year as I have always wanted to combine my love of ceramics and weave together.
