Macramé is the art of knotting, a traditional craft with ancient origins. The craft practice of macramé is a slow journey and Belfast based macramé artist Alison Pascoe is passionate about its heritage and innovation. With a range of uniquely handcrafted homewares and DIY macramé kits, Alison’s collections are carefully considered and designed to enhance our modern spaces. The ASTRL Fibres studio is a workshop, showroom and learning space dedicated to the art of macramé and heritage craft. Situated in Belfast, Northern Ireland, the serene and light filled studio is a space to share a passion for the craft, offering in person workshops and bespoke commission consultations.

The craft practice of macramé. A self taught macramé artist, Alison studied sculpture and textiles at the Alberta College of Art and Design and also works for Decowell Restoration a Belfast based company that specialises in the conservation and restoration of historic interiors and decorative arts such as gilding, marbling and wood graining. More recently Alison has begun to study the craft practice of cane weaving. In 2021 Alison had the opportunity to attend a seat cane weaving course with tutor and craftsperson Rachael South at the West Dean College of Arts and Conservation.
