The horn craft, buffalo, crook making course is run over two days
9.30 until 4.30
You will learn the methods of bending buffalo horn using dry heat and learning to bend the horn around a jig which is a preformed shape of a crook. You will also be taught how to polish, sand, rasp. Also how to turn the horn out for nose out or turn the horn in, nose in, ie market stick.
Day 1 – cutting the horn, measure, assemble the tools needed, heating the horn and filing/rasping
Day 2 – preparing the shank, making a traditional peg joint, attaching the crook handle to the shank, polishing
This class is taught on a one to one basis for over 18s only. Cost £125.00 per day. If you have already done stickmaking previously it can be done as a one day course for actually shaping the crook horn.
Rams horn runs in the same way – on this you will learn to baulk, this is taught on a one to one basis.

All materials are included in the course fee. Tea, coffee and biscuits provided. Please bring your own lunch (local shops nearby for purchasing lunch if required).
