Wooden Obelisk, St Michaels Hurst, Bishop’s Stortford
In 2019, I won a public art commission to create a work for a new housing development of my home town of Bishop’s Stortford, Hertfordshire. Working with the hewer Steve Woodley, we created an obelisk made from sweet chestnut to the proportions of the fibonacci sequence. Each word was carved in relief and is grape variety grown at a local vineyard, while the vine leaves represented the logo of the development.
