About Sarah Davis

I’m a stained glass artist and tutor, trained at Bristol School of Art, and now based near Stroud in Gloucestershire. I design and make unique colourful glass hangings, panels, and windows, working with traditional and modern techniques. My work often follows natural themes, including plants, landscapes, and animals. While the majority of my work is created for client commissions, I also exhibit and sell throughout the English West Country and online. I work with two main techniques: copper foiling and leading. I use copper foiling techniques to produce smaller stained glass hangings, primarily animals and birds, with a range of over 40 different species. My leaded stained glass work, usually installed as windows or panels, has vibrant designs created using the varied colours and textures of stained glass. I often use sgraffito painting techniques to produce intricate patterns on the surface of the glass. Recent work includes development of a collection of art pieces based on the situation faced by vulnerable and endangered species. I’m a member of the Contemporary Glass Society and the cooperative Gallery at the Guild in the Cotswolds. I enjoy being an ‘artist in residence’ and demonstrating stained glass making, most recently at Berkeley Castle and Nature in Art. In December 2020 I appeared on Channel 4’s ‘Kirstie’s Handmade Christmas’ making a copper foiled stained glass wreath.
