About Michelle de Bruin

Michelle trained in sculpture at Glasgow School of Art, and first started carving  in 1988. She works from her carving workshop at Hutton Stone Co in the Scottish Borders, and from her studio at Marchmont House Creative Spaces, alongside former apprentice Josephine Crossland. The variety of carving within the workshop is huge, it can range from  the large and  the complex, to very small. The work can come into being in a variety of ways, some projects can be designed with minimal input , while others are full collaborations between the clients and ourselves. We can restore  and replace existing sculpture, we also make our own. Memorials and inscriptions are also designed and carved, with all lettering hand-drawn in the traditional way. Our studio is always open for a visit, but please make an appointment.
