Joe Tyler is a lecturer in blacksmithing and also a self employed blacksmith. Based in Hampshire Joe completed his Studying at Herefordshire for three years finishing in 2013. Working in many aspects of metal work including, historical, traditional and contemporary.
Specific historical interest is the early Saxon period.
Joe is part of a re enactment group of early saxon period for the last 17 years and holds regular talks as well as demonstrations to the public working a lot with Butser Ancient Farm.
Lecturing experience 9 years.
I am a Lecturer at Plumpton college and also run short courses at West Dean college of Art and Conservation.
One of the best things about this craft is that not a-lot has changed over the last three thousand years , it still comes down to the hammer and anvil.
Media experience:
I have worked on several platforms including butser plus, and history hit when I spent the day with Wilderness and bushcraft expert Ray Mears. Recording an episode about the discovery of Iron and the importance of the Iron Age.
