About Giles Newman
Giles Newman is a self taught wood carver who creates extraordinary, sculptural spoons and jewellery from naturally fallen wood using only an axe and a knife. His one-off carvings break the mould in the current renaissance for hand carved homeware and jewellery in using no powered tools and by blurring the line between craft and art. Each nature inspired piece is unique, its form guided by the individual characteristics of the wood he works with. Despite starting to carve only three years ago and never having worked with wood previously, Giles’ work is in high demand and sells across the globe. His workshop is the woods where he finds his materials and a small bodgers shelter in the garden of his home in Lancashire.
