About Liz Tapper - Hand Embroidery

Liz is a Graduate Apprentice of the Royal School of Needlework, and as such, received training in traditional technical hand embroidery, as well as the conservation and restoration of antique textiles. Since that time, she has worked on commissions for Harrods, Lulu Guinness, Monsoon, London Fashion Week, for private individuals and for television. Liz teaches at venues around the country, to all skill levels, both for the RSN and privately. She also designs and sells embroidery kits and embroidered art in a range of hand embroidery techniques, as well as Appletons’ wool, fabrics and goldwork threads through her company, Lenham Needlecraft. A range of classes are also listed on the website. Liz is an accepted Member of the Somerset Guild of Craftsmen and The Society for Embroidered Work. Silk shaded buzzards

Only one buzzard is visible here, but this is a pair of silk shaded buzzards, pictured circling in a blue sky. Each feather in the wings was stitched individually, using one strand of thread in the needle. I used the completed work to recover a piano stool at the client’s request.
