About Claire Mooney
Based in Northern Ireland, my work aims to celebrate local heritage and traditional craft techniques. Graduating from Silversmithing & Jewellery I continued with study completing an MA in Cultural Heritage and Museum Studies in 2019 which informs my contemporary practice.
My background is mainly in metalwork and I'm working towards larger spun vessels and sculptural pieces with repoussé detail. I'm very interested in the history and processes of textile production within Ireland, mainly linen and wool and which I aim to incorporate into future mixed media pieces.

17 Stewarts Road
Rambling Silver (Set of Cups)
A piece made for my degree show upon graduating in 2018.
The collection was reflective of the Mourne Mountains and childhood memory and tradition of collecting gorse and blackberries which were a source of inspiration for the project.
