Corvus Works is dedicated to fine press bookmaking. Built on some forty years experience in the typographic arts, the practice works with metal type and letterpress printing presses, designing and printing limited edition books for itself and others, both in collaboration and commissioned editions. He is a member of the Oxford Guild of Printers, The Fine Press Book Association and the International Society of Typographic Designers.

The Skeul Board Man

The Skeul Board Man by Tommy Armstrong

The pitman poet of the Durham Coalfield. An experimental piece using Walbaum typefaces, formerly owned by The Rampant Lions Press. Tommy Armstrong was a local County Durham miner who wrote ballads of working life at the end of the nineteenth and early centuries. This ballad explores a rhythmical narrative between a man and boy.

Hand-set in Walbaum 24pt small face, 24pt large face italic, 36pt, 30pt, 14pt and 12pt. Hermann Zapf’s Künstler-linien Printed in black and grey throughout.

Zerkall papers with Fabriano and Canson coloured papers. Wrappers jacket of Hahnemühle with tipped on label printed in Hermann Zapf’s Virtuosa I. 260mm x 275mm. Hand-sewn in the workshop.

Edition or 50 copies with 45 for sale. Autumn 2019.
