Birka style Viking friction folder with pattern-welded blade & wrought iron handle.
This knife is a small UK legal folding knife that is inspired by Anglo-Saxon and Viking age folding knives found at various archaeological sites around Europe – especially the iron folding knives found at Birka, Novgorod and Repton.
The 70mm blade is laminated from 32 alternating layers of 1095 & 15N20 carbon steels, and is hollow ground on a grindstone. The handle is forged from antique wrought iron that has been tapered, folded across widthways to perfectly fit the blade and then etched to reveal the grain.
