About Carreducker

HERITAGE CRAFT - CORDWAINING
We are master handsewn shoemakers (cordwainers) who make beautiful, bespoke shoes that combine the traditions of our heritage, British craft with a modern aesthetic, colour and detail. We design each pair of bespoke shoes to suit our customer's personal taste, style and of course, fit.
LEARN SHOE MAKING
We founded and run the London handsewn shoe making school, opening up opportunities for novice enthusiasts to learn this heritage craft on evening classes, our famous 12-day intensive course and one-day introductory hand lasting classes at our workshop in London's iconic Oxo Tower Wharf building. We are proud to include Maud van den Broecke (Horace Batten Bootmakers), Seiji McCarthy, Ann Marika-Verploeghchasse (Stiefelwerks NY), Jesse Moore (NY), Louis Smith (Old Sole), Tom Murphy (Chapter Two), William Laborde, George's Shoe Repairs, William Laborde and Fadairo Oluwamuyiwa (John Lobb) amongst our alumni.

Bespoke Handsewn Shoes

All of our shoes and boots are bespoke, made to fit each client’s feet and designed to suit their individual style. They start from £2590, plus a one-off cost of £660 for lasts, and are traditionally hand sewn using the strongest welted construction; the most durable, English pit tanned leather from Devon for the soling and heels; and the finest box calf for the uppers.

The Process

It is a demanding process with exacting expertise required at every stage of the shoe’s creation – from the last maker who carves the lasts to the client’s individual measurements; the pattern cutter and closer who transform detailed two-dimensional designs into the leather shoe uppers; and finally, the shoemakers, who bring all of the elements together to create a comfortable, stylish shoe.

From seeing a client for the first time to delivering the finished shoes, the entire process takes some six months for the first pair, allowing time for a number of fittings.

Virtual Service

A virtual measurement and fitting service is also available to clients unable to travel to London.

Once we have your fit, subsequent pairs of shoes can be ordered via email or telephone and are delivered in around 12 weeks.
