The Cyntell

This is the traditional welsh agricultural basket, the design has been handed down through generations.  The hoop and first 4 ribs of this basket are made in the winter by attaching them to formas after splitting and shaving willow or hazel rods.  When these are completely dry the basket si woven using local materials.  These baskets traditionally took a year to make and were used for harvesting, winnowing and storage.
