About Annet Stirling

Annet, one half of ˜Incisive Letterwork, trained as a graphic designer in the Netherlands before studying lettering at the City and Guilds of London Art School with Berthold Wolpe. Incisive Letterwork was formed in 1988 and focuses on large scale architectural inscriptions and word sculpture. Exploring the boundaries of legibility and abstraction in letterform has resulted in two solo exhibitions and a book, Heavens Above. Personal pieces are made in the studio alongside commercial commissions, which have included inscriptions for the National Gallery, the National Portrait Gallery, the Royal Opera House and the Royal Festival Hall.
